Its Newly Listed Here>> Dream Big Quilt

It’s been a snowy, quiet week here, which means I’ve had plenty of time to dive into my quilting projects. There’s nothing better than staying inside, wrapped in the hum of my machine, as I bring these creations to life. This Dream Big quilt is now officially finished and ready to ship, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out.

I’ve also got a couple of other exciting quilts in the works—the Bicycle Quilt is currently on my longarm machine, getting its custom quilting, and the Kaleidoscope Quilt is still in the piecing stage but coming together beautifully. But for now, the spotlight is on this Dream Big Queen Quilt, a handmade masterpiece waiting for its forever home. Let’s dive into the details!

🏡 Explore More Handmade Quilts

If you’re still deciding, you can browse more styles here:

Design & Colors

The star of this quilt is its breathtaking Dream Big floral panel, which features an over sized blooming flower with stunning pastel hues. The soft transitions of pinks, purples, blues, yellows, and greens create a watercolor-like effect, making it feel both modern and timeless. The quilting enhances the floral design with intricate stitching that brings out the delicate details of each petal, giving it texture and depth.

The outer border is equally beautiful, with a striped pastel rainbow pattern that frames the quilt perfectly. The combination of soft colors and intricate stitching makes this piece an eye-catching addition to any space. Whether draped over a bed, folded at the foot for a pop of color, or used as a lightweight cover for snuggling up, this quilt is both practical and stunning. Follow More of My Work On My Pinterest

Beautiful Bicycle Quilt is ready for Quilting!

I’m Up and running on a new Dream Big. I’m doing the outlines of the petals, and laying in the base quilting, but this one will be custom quilted, and it has lots of open space around the flower for some beautiful free motion quilting,

The little on point border is super sweet, those little blocks are so cute, and frame it so well. As I was trying to decide how to frame this one, I remembered this cute little border, and it was perfect for this project. Which gave me an idea. I will soon be making and building a category for just the borders. As I have done many borders over the years, and yet I have no way to display the many options. So Look for it soon, so you can customize how your quilt looks by having the border options all collected up on one page. Im excited for that.

Geese Quilts: 3 Timeless Classic with Endless Possibilities/ Quilts for Sale

Beautiful Quilts for Ordering

If you’re new to the world of handmade quilts for sale, welcome! Quilting is an art form steeped in history, and the Flying Geese design is one of its most celebrated patterns. Whether you’re a seasoned quilt enthusiast or just beginning to explore the warmth of handmade quilts, you’re in for a treat. Let’s dive into the world of Geese Quilts—a classic patchwork design with versatility and charm. Added with Custom Quilting and you have a classic Keepsake Quilt.

And for those wondering, “What’s the difference between a quilt and a comforter?” don’t worry. I’ll cover that too. Let’s just say a quilt is like a tailored suit: handcrafted, detailed, and oh-so-stylish. A comforter? Think off-the-rack.

What Makes a Quilt Special (and Why It’s Not a Comforter)

Before we explore Flying Geese, let’s set the record straight: a quilt is much more than just a cozy bed covering. Quilts are handmade treasures, created layer by layer. I call it the ” Quilt Sammich” not all “sammiches” are the same.

  • The Top Layer: This is where the magic happens! Patterns like Flying Geese come to life with carefully chosen fabrics.
  • The Middle Layer: This fluffy layer—called batting—provides warmth and texture. I made a whole post on that <
  • The Backing: The smooth underside that holds everything together.

All these layers are stitched together (often in intricate patterns) to create a quilt. A comforter, by contrast, is machine-made with synthetic fillers and lacks the artistry of patchwork designs. No two handmade quilts are exactly alike, which is what makes them so special.

Now, let’s talk Geese Quilts—a design loved by quilters and collectors alike.

Migrating Geese: A Quilt Pattern with Endless Possibilities

The Flying Geese pattern is a staple in the quilting world. Its triangular shapes are traditionally used to symbolize migration and journeys, making it a meaningful addition to any home. What sets Geese Quilts apart is the array of design options they offer. Let’s explore the three variations I proudly offer in my shop, and I have yet even to touch the surface of ALL the options. But I do offer 3 variations.

Geese on the Edge Quilts for Sale

If you love clean lines and contemporary style, Geese on the Edge is the design for you. This variation places the triangular “geese” along the edges of the quilt, creating a striking border effect. It’s a modern twist on a classic pattern and perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your space.

  • Why Choose Geese on the Edge? It’s ideal for showcasing bold colors and geometric precision. Plus, the design naturally draws the eye, making it a stunning centerpiece for any room.
  • Customization Options: Choose your color palette to match your decor. Want a rainbow gradient? Done. Prefer monochrome? Let’s do it!

Migrating Geese Custom Made Quilts

Looking for a design that tells a story? Migrating Geese is all about movement and flow. This variation arranges the triangles in a cascading, directional pattern that mimics a flock of geese in flight. It’s dynamic, visually interesting, and deeply symbolic.

  • Why Choose Migrating Geese? It’s perfect for those who love a quilt with personality. The pattern’s sense of motion adds energy to any room.
  • Customization Options: This design shines with a mix of light and dark fabrics. Imagine soft blues fading into deep navy—or bright yellows transitioning to rich oranges. The possibilities are endless!

Crossing Geese Handmade Quilts

For those who appreciate symmetry and balance, Crossing Geese is a showstopper. This pattern features intersecting rows of geese that create a lattice-like effect. It’s a beautiful way to bring structure and harmony to your quilt.

  • Why Choose Crossing Geese? The interlocking design is both traditional and timeless. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a touch of classic elegance.
  • Customization Options: Play with contrasting colors for a bold look, or opt for a subtle, tone-on-tone palette for a more understated vibe.

Browse Quilt Styles

One of my most popular custom designs is the Jelly Bean Quilt—a playful, modern pattern that can be made in a wide range of color palettes.

You can view and order your custom Jelly Bean Quilt here:

If you happen to prefer a finished quilt with no wait time, I occasionally have ready-to-ship versions available as well:

Why Invest in a Handmade Geese Quilt?

Handmade quilts are more than just functional bedcovers; they’re heirlooms in the making. Each stitch tells a story, and every fabric choice reflects care and creativity. Here are a few reasons why a Geese Quilt deserves a place in your home:

  • Durability: With proper care, handmade quilts can last for generations.
  • Uniqueness: No mass-produced item can replicate the charm of a custom quilt.
  • Comfort: Natural materials and meticulous craftsmanship make quilts incredibly cozy.
  • Custom Quilting/ as with most all my quilts they are quilted densly and made to last. if your tired of the box store stuff falling apart after a year of use…. then its time to invest in a Handmade Traditional Quilt.

Ready to Bring a Geese Quilt into Your Home?

Whether you’re drawn to the bold edges of Geese on the Edge, the flowing motion of Migrating Geese, or the structured beauty of Crossing Geese, there’s a design waiting for you. Browse my collection and find a quilt that speaks to your style. Each piece is handmade with love, ensuring you’re getting a one-of-a-kind treasure.

Big Star Quilt/ Quilts From the Past

There came a time when I had way too many Quilt listings to manage—LOL, not much different from now! But back then, I decided to slim down what I offered, especially when I transitioned away from Etsy. Has it been a year already? Time flies!

I made the switch when Etsy’s fees jumped from 5% to 11%, they started charging carbon taxes, and they practically forced free shipping. If you didn’t play along, they’d banish you to page 97 in search results—talk about a motivation killer! All of that happened in just two short years under new leadership. Needless to say, I’ve never looked back. Now, I just give all those savings to the state in taxes instead—ha!

Anyway, simplifying my listings has been a blessing. It’s made my life so much easier, and I can focus on the quilts that bring me the most joy. Here’s a little throwback to some of my “way-back machine” quilt photos—enjoy!

Wall Size Lone Star

These smaller quilts are fun practice for me. You wont find them up for sale often, as they sell out pretty quickly. They are great for e when learning a pattern. This Lone Star Quilt isnt the easiest to piece together, but beautiful when you get them right. Find more on my collections on My Pinterest Page

I always loved doing this one., The Black ones were easier on the eyes. But I do remember the quilt in the center being the VERY 1ST Ordered Quilt I ever did~~. How to Choose a Batting for Your Handmade Quilt/ Cotton Batting Vs. Poly Batting/ Why does it matter?

Choosing a Quilt Batting

What is Quilt Batting? How to Choose a Quilt Batting

I get asked this a lot. I actually just made available to order my quilts with double batting. The options reflect your choices when selecting a quilt now. I wanted to share why I did that, and to make it easier to know which batting you really want. Its your quilt! Get it made the way you want! 🙂

Quilt Batting is the actual layer (or layers) between: the front and back of your quilt.

Quilters call it making a Quilt Sandwich. OR as I call it: Quilt Sammich. Its the actual layering of your Quilt Top, and the quilt Back over a layer of ” Stuffing” or~~ over across the pond~~ they call it ” Wadding” ~~Either way its the layer you don’t see, in between the front and back, and the final step before actually Quilting the quilt.

How Many Kinds of Batting are there?

LOTS!! too many to list! But, Generally Quilters use 2 different types. Cotton Quilt Batting, and Polyester Batting. Which one you decide to order is up to you and depending on your needs can vary between the options. The Go To Batting and mostly requested is Cotton Batting. I love it for the soft drape and breathable quality to it. This is what I include in my hand made quilts by default. But there are reasons to use a Poly Batting such as wanting a lighter fluffyier quilt meaning its more like what all the big company’s sell. Almost always is a single layer of thin poly batting. < which is never quilted much, so over time it doesn’t hold up, washing and wear and tear. like a Quilted Quilt does.

How to choose a Quilt Batting

What does it look like? What’s inside your quilt?

On the left in the photo is a bolt of Cotton Batting, on the right is Polyester Batting. Cotton is the standard and most popular choice. And its what I use in all my quilts. Poly Batting has many combinations.100 % poly, 50 / 50 > meaning half cotton, half poly, OR Hi Loft Poly which is twice as thick as to have the max loft to showcase quilting. Now…. having said that there are times when I use both. 1 layer of cotton, and 1 layer of poly. OR i will use 2 layers of cotton. If your looking for a winter weight Quilt, I would use 2 layers of cotton. This is a heavy weighted quilt. If you were wanting something more on the décor side and to use it I would use 1 layer of Cotton, and 1 layer of Poly. This gives you the drape of cotton with a little more loft to the quilting. Meaning the quilting shows up more. ….. I get a lot of comments on my quilting and I often do 2 layers. so knowing some of the differences are hard to explain ” online” when its really about how they feel and how heavy they are. I can’t show that via my computer . haha.

How to choose a Quilt Batting

So there’s a lot to all of it, but in short They are both great for different reasons. If you have heard Polyester doesn’t hold up like cotton…. I would say that’s because buying poly from a box store wont hold up. and that’s somewhat true. They don’t hold up to well with the washing. The batting can shift and go thin over time. But Poly batting on a Well and Densely Quilted quilt DOES hold up. if It has been quilted like I quilt, it will last just as long as cotton. how long batting last is based on how much quilting it has. My quilts have a lot of quilting. 🙂 Its what I do.

Whats My Favorite Quilt Batting?

all of them. ha~ its your quilt you get to decide. Im here to help you decide. BUT here’s my prescription for the right batting:

If you live in a warm climate~~ you would prefer 1 layer of cotton.

If you live in a cold area 2 layers of cotton.

If you want a warm quilt but want the quilting to show more 1 layer of cotton, 1 layer of poly.

If you are a warm sleeper, or have hot flashes…. you do not want poly. cotton is the only way to go for those who sleep warm.

I So I know I might have confused things trying to put to words but that’s the run down. My opinion and thoughts.

Putting together Inspirations, For a “New to Me” Pattern

Inspired by my love for working with smaller pieces, Im choosing a quilt pattern.

I often explore amazing magazines and books for inspiration. And by New to me, I mean a new one to the site, so it can be a new one to YOU! LOL ~~~

Sooo… I’m on the hunt for a pattern from the War Era— style and color ~

something both fun and beautiful. Quilts from that time were often made up of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pieces. Classic patchwork from that era was remarkable; nothing went to waste.

Back then, everything was made from REAL natural fibers, adding to their charm and durability. Now days we struggle to find anything 100% Cotton.

Here are some of the Pattern and Ideas Im looking at>< Which Quilt do you like best? I always like them all ~~

for different reasons.

So Those are some of the Quilts I came across that seemed interesting. Plus depending on the color way they could all be very different. Too Many Quilts Not enough time! #Handmade Quilts. Find more of my work on My Pinterest

So, It was a long summer! I had 9 dental appointments over 3 months. And then I had the roof replaced. Which was a great thing, but there was some after issues that came up. It was all very stressful. Between those 2 things I took several months to just heal and deal with things.. So I didn’t post for several months, and guess what google does when you go inactive? They put you in the Dust Bin of History!

So I am working hard to get back on page 1. For now It looks like Im still on the bottom of page 2! Yikes. Just when you think its ok to take a break, Artificial Search Engines come in and changes they way everything works. The A I search is something else. Everyone is scrambling to re rank, and not get thrown in the dust bin. whew…. But Im back and look for improvements on my site. Getting everything phone friendly is quite the task. Anyhoo…. thats what Ive been doing. and I will be getting back on track soon!
