Why I Only Offer King and Queen Sizes
You may be wondering why I only offer my custom-made quilts in King and Queen sizes. The reason is simple—when making a quilt, I always prepare for shrinkage. I construct each quilt slightly larger than the final dimensions to ensure that after its first wash, it will measure correctly. This process is essential to maintaining the integrity and fit of the quilt over time.
Another key factor is the inconsistency in naming smaller quilt sizes. Terms like Twin, Twin XL, Full, and Standard can mean different things depending on the manufacturer, and the measurements vary widely. However, anything over 80 inches wide is generally considered a Queen-sized quilt by quilters, as it truly needs to be made at 90 inches wide to ensure proper coverage.
Ultimately, the material, time, and craftsmanship required to create a quilt remain nearly the same regardless of minor size differences. By offering quilts for sale in King and Queen sizes only, I can ensure that each quilt is made with the proper proportions and quality craftsmanship that I take pride in delivering.
