Close-up of the quilting detail on the handmade bicycle quilt, showing radiating stitching lines

New Project! I have an awesome Project in the work! Its a double awesome actually. The Dream Big Flower Quilts for sale, with added Bicycle themes. 4 Beautiful Panels added to the front with the flower, and some patchwork border blocks and purples around the flower. I also just got the backing fabric and its amazing also, this was a great find!

This Quilt for Sale is continued in Part 2 HERE

Dream Big Quilt with Bicycles! Super Unique Project

I’m not sure how I’m putting it all together yet, but I have all the working parts here, and I’m working on the star border. The flower in the center is the Med Dream Big, and its beautiful in itself, but to have the added theme of the bikes is going to make this one a true one of a kind ~ Queen Quilt. I’m excited!

Custom Ordered Quilt/ Handmade Quilts By Taylor

I don’t often take orders for some hard to find fabrics. Or “ Theme Quilts”/ because you may see them online , but when you actually need them on FABRIC and NEED to find them you cant. But Now days you can get pretty much anything you want on fabric. This Spoonflower Co. has some great items!

( and NO…I’m not doing Cartoon Quilts, or Sports Helmets ~~~Ive done my fair share of those types of quilts) hahaha~

This Flower is going to be amazing as the focal point Custom Quilted and Double Batted,. And the bicycles are simple and beautiful. ( not like cartoon and sports ball quilts) 🙂 lol~

How Quilts Are Made / Bicycle Quilt

The Star Block I have going are Lemoyne Star, Super cute little guys. They are amazing in a quilt alone. but in these small little cutie blocks they make a great border!

Lamoyne Star Quilt

All the Pieces and Materials are here, I’m ready to roll!

I will be seaming the Cotton Backing piece today and it will be ready to make a quilt sammich, and ready for the quilting all the 3 layers ( or in this case 4 layers). Subscribe to get direct emails on my newest projects! This one is a custom order one, But I have 2 more of the Flower Panels, and could make another type of quilt with them. I thought the bicycles on tis one are amazing! Super fun 🙂

Beautiful Bicycle Quilt/ How to Make Quilts

So Getting all the parts together, Ready for some assembly. Its going to be a queen quilt, so I will try several lay out and start doing some math…. ( math is hard) LOL But we are getting close. I tried putting the Floral print as a border around the flower, ‘Im not sure I like that, more than the dark putple which really frames it.

Deciding the Border Details/ Quilt Sammich Layer 1 of 3

Its hard to tell by these rough photos, but it will look awesome on the bed. I think I really like the more seperation from the center and the stars. meaning there will be space for the eye to rest and ensure that the stars drape on the sides , rather than on the surface. Its coming together Just Great!

Coming Soon: Civil War Era Quilt/ 3rd Variation

We are trying to decide which one to do…. I like them all… You pick! haha 🙂 New Project soon!

Geese Quilts: 3 Timeless Classic with Endless Possibilities/ Quilts for Sale

Beautiful Quilts for Ordering

If you’re new to the world of handmade quilts for sale, welcome! Quilting is an art form steeped in history, and the Flying Geese design is one of its most celebrated patterns. Whether you’re a seasoned quilt enthusiast or just beginning to explore the warmth of handmade quilts, you’re in for a treat. Let’s dive into the world of Geese Quilts—a classic patchwork design with versatility and charm. Added with Custom Quilting and you have a classic Keepsake Quilt.

And for those wondering, “What’s the difference between a quilt and a comforter?” don’t worry. I’ll cover that too. Let’s just say a quilt is like a tailored suit: handcrafted, detailed, and oh-so-stylish. A comforter? Think off-the-rack.

What Makes a Quilt Special (and Why It’s Not a Comforter)

Before we explore Flying Geese, let’s set the record straight: a quilt is much more than just a cozy bed covering. Quilts are handmade treasures, created layer by layer. I call it the ” Quilt Sammich” not all “sammiches” are the same.

  • The Top Layer: This is where the magic happens! Patterns like Flying Geese come to life with carefully chosen fabrics.
  • The Middle Layer: This fluffy layer—called batting—provides warmth and texture. I made a whole post on that <
  • The Backing: The smooth underside that holds everything together.

All these layers are stitched together (often in intricate patterns) to create a quilt. A comforter, by contrast, is machine-made with synthetic fillers and lacks the artistry of patchwork designs. No two handmade quilts are exactly alike, which is what makes them so special.

Now, let’s talk Geese Quilts—a design loved by quilters and collectors alike.

Migrating Geese: A Quilt Pattern with Endless Possibilities

The Flying Geese pattern is a staple in the quilting world. Its triangular shapes are traditionally used to symbolize migration and journeys, making it a meaningful addition to any home. What sets Geese Quilts apart is the array of design options they offer. Let’s explore the three variations I proudly offer in my shop, and I have yet even to touch the surface of ALL the options. But I do offer 3 variations.

Geese on the Edge Quilts for Sale

If you love clean lines and contemporary style, Geese on the Edge is the design for you. This variation places the triangular “geese” along the edges of the quilt, creating a striking border effect. It’s a modern twist on a classic pattern and perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your space.

  • Why Choose Geese on the Edge? It’s ideal for showcasing bold colors and geometric precision. Plus, the design naturally draws the eye, making it a stunning centerpiece for any room.
  • Customization Options: Choose your color palette to match your decor. Want a rainbow gradient? Done. Prefer monochrome? Let’s do it!

Migrating Geese Custom Made Quilts

Looking for a design that tells a story? Migrating Geese is all about movement and flow. This variation arranges the triangles in a cascading, directional pattern that mimics a flock of geese in flight. It’s dynamic, visually interesting, and deeply symbolic.

  • Why Choose Migrating Geese? It’s perfect for those who love a quilt with personality. The pattern’s sense of motion adds energy to any room.
  • Customization Options: This design shines with a mix of light and dark fabrics. Imagine soft blues fading into deep navy—or bright yellows transitioning to rich oranges. The possibilities are endless!

Crossing Geese Handmade Quilts

For those who appreciate symmetry and balance, Crossing Geese is a showstopper. This pattern features intersecting rows of geese that create a lattice-like effect. It’s a beautiful way to bring structure and harmony to your quilt.

  • Why Choose Crossing Geese? The interlocking design is both traditional and timeless. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a touch of classic elegance.
  • Customization Options: Play with contrasting colors for a bold look, or opt for a subtle, tone-on-tone palette for a more understated vibe.

Browse Quilt Styles

One of my most popular custom designs is the Jelly Bean Quilt—a playful, modern pattern that can be made in a wide range of color palettes.

You can view and order your custom Jelly Bean Quilt here:
Made To Order Jelly Bean Quilt/ King or Queen

If you happen to prefer a finished quilt with no wait time, I occasionally have ready-to-ship versions available as well:
Green Jelly Bean Quilt/ Finished Ready To Ship

Why Invest in a Handmade Geese Quilt?

Handmade quilts are more than just functional bedcovers; they’re heirlooms in the making. Each stitch tells a story, and every fabric choice reflects care and creativity. Here are a few reasons why a Geese Quilt deserves a place in your home:

  • Durability: With proper care, handmade quilts can last for generations.
  • Uniqueness: No mass-produced item can replicate the charm of a custom quilt.
  • Comfort: Natural materials and meticulous craftsmanship make quilts incredibly cozy.
  • Custom Quilting/ as with most all my quilts they are quilted densly and made to last. if your tired of the box store stuff falling apart after a year of use…. then its time to invest in a Handmade Traditional Quilt.

Ready to Bring a Geese Quilt into Your Home?

Whether you’re drawn to the bold edges of Geese on the Edge, the flowing motion of Migrating Geese, or the structured beauty of Crossing Geese, there’s a design waiting for you. Browse my collection and find a quilt that speaks to your style. Each piece is handmade with love, ensuring you’re getting a one-of-a-kind treasure.

My Beautiful Handmade Color Crush Quilt/ The Story Behind the Quilt/ Quilts For Sale

quilt for sale

Over the years, the Color Crush Quilt has evolved into a timeless design. The original Quilts for Sale version was created in purples and cream, crafted for a special order from the UK—my first time ever shipping overseas! While it was an exciting milestone, the fees and paperwork involved in international shipping turned out to be more than I wanted to take on as a regular offering.

Looking back at those photos from 2013—wow, how time flies! It’s incredible to see how far this design has come since those early days. Each one has been a labor of love, showcasing the artistry and dedication that goes into my handmade quilts.

If you’re looking for quilts for sale, each Color Crush Quilt is made to order with care and creativity, perfect for anyone who loves unique, handcrafted pieces. Whether you’re drawn to its bold colors or its inspiring abstract design, this quilt is a celebration of both tradition and modern flair/

The Journey of Hand-Dyeing Fabrics: Handmade Quilts, Made to Order with Love

The Color Crush Quilt played a pivotal role in inspiring my journey into hand-dyeing fabrics. Finding the perfect shade of purple wasn’t always easy, so I decided to take matters into my own hands—literally! Hand-dyeing fabric quickly became a super fun yet challenging adventure. There’s so much work involved in dyeing fabrics, especially in small batches, but starting small is key to mastering the process.

The greens gave me the hardest time, often refusing to turn out just right. But through trial and error, I discovered the joy of creating stunning purples, vibrant blues, and rich oranges. The dark, deep oranges became my personal favorite—who knew there were so many beautiful shades of orange waiting to be uncovered?

This process has added a whole new layer of creativity and customization to my handmade quilts. Each fabric I dye is infused with care and intention, making every quilt truly unique. The journey of hand-dyeing has deepened my love for quilting, allowing me to offer made-to-order quilts that celebrate the artistry of color and texture.

The name “Color Crush Quilt” began with this vibrant orange version, inspired by the nostalgic Orange Crush soda.

But what happens when you create it in blue? Naturally, it becomes “Blue Crush!” This evolution sparked the idea of naming the collection Color Crush Quilt—a perfect reflection of its colorful versatility. I’ve always dreamed of making it in yellow someday; wouldn’t that be awesome!

The “Crush” in the name also speaks to its unique, abstract design. Unlike traditional quilts where seams align perfectly, these blocks embrace an unmatched, organic assembly. It’s a style not every quilter prefers, but it offers an inspiring creative challenge.

I remember thinking Orange Crush was perfect because I was trying to Crush the Blocks together, LOL especially at the end when you need to fit the last pieces in to get the size and to end up square with no half blocks. . Piecing it together demands patience, especially the first time. But with practice—just like anything in handmade quilting—it becomes more intuitive and enjoyable. Its also why I often don’t use patterns. When you don’t use patterns…. you cant do it wrong! haha ~ ( true story) reading patterns is a whole different set of skills. I often just wing it~

One of the joys of selling handmade quilts and custom-made quilts online is seeing how each version refines my skills. Each Color Crush Quilt is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted work of art, offering a fresh, modern take on quilting while honoring the beauty of imperfection.

Color Crush: Handmade Quilts and the Magic of Light

Did you know that quilt tops can double as stunning window treatments? The delicate layers of a quilt top, like those in my Color Crush Quilt, create an effect reminiscent of stained glass when sunlight filters through. The hand-dyed fabrics add even more depth and uniqueness to the look, as each shade comes alive with vibrant hues.

Hand-dyeing these fabrics is an intricate process, involving multiple steps to achieve just the right colors. It’s a labor of love, especially with small batches, but the results are worth it. The subtle variations in the purples, blues, and oranges I dye by hand give each piece its own character—perfect for creating quilts with unmatched beauty.

Using a quilt as a window treatment is a unique way to showcase its artistry, though it does come with a trade-off: over time, sunlight can naturally fade the colors. Lining the back side can help, but it slightly changes the luminous effect. For a high-up window or a space where you want a bold, colorful statement, a quilt top transforms into a one-of-a-kind “stained glass” display. I even made a small one for my bathroom, and the playful interplay of color and light is absolutely mesmerizing.

If you’re looking for handmade quilts or custom-made quilts, consider their potential beyond traditional use. The artistry of a quilt can bring warmth, color, and creativity to your home in unexpected ways.

Thats it for this Story 🙂 Sew Ya Later Gators!

The Timeless Charm of Pinwheel Quilts – A Handmade Keepsake/ Quilts For Sale

quilts for sale

If you’re new to the world of handmade quilts, welcome! Quilting is an art form rich in tradition, and the Pinwheel Quilt is one of its most joyful and enduring patterns. Whether you’re a seasoned quilt lover or just discovering the beauty of handmade textiles, you’re in for a treat. Let’s explore the story behind Pinwheel Quilts—a classic design full of movement, energy, and charm.

Handmade Quilts for Sale – Custom Pinwheel Quilt, Made to Order

Looking for handmade quilts for sale that blend timeless tradition with modern craftsmanship? This custom Pinwheel Quilt is a beautiful, made-to-order piece, perfect for those who love heirloom-quality quilts. Whether you prefer classic neutrals or bold colorways, this quilt is designed just for you.

Made To Order Pinwheel Quilt

A Quilt That Spins with History

The Pinwheel quilt block has been around for generations, inspired by the simple pleasure of a child’s toy—the spinning pinwheel in the wind. Early quilters saw the symbol of movement and change in this pattern, and it quickly became a favorite in American quilting history. It reflects motion, playfulness, and tradition, making it a beloved choice for both vintage and modern quilts.

Traditionally, Pinwheel Quilts were pieced together using fabric scraps, ensuring no material went to waste. Today, they offer a wonderful balance between old-world charm and contemporary color choices, making them perfect for any home.

What Makes a Pinwheel Quilt Special?

Before we explore the variations, let’s set the record straight: A quilt is not just a blanket. A quilt is handcrafted, layered, and stitched with intention—more like a tailored masterpiece than a factory-made comforter.

  • The Top Layer: This is where the magic happens! The Pinwheel design comes to life with carefully selected fabrics, arranged in a way that creates depth and movement.
  • The Middle Layer (Batting): Choose between cotton or wool for warmth and texture. (Not sure which one is best? I’ve got a post on that! → link to batting post.)
  • The Backing: The soft, smooth underside that holds it all together—just as beautiful as the front.

All these layers are stitched together with custom, artistic quilting—not computerized stitching but true craftsmanship, ensuring a one-of-a-kind piece that will last for generations.

Pinwheel Quilt Styles – From Soft & Simple to Bold & Bright

One of the best things about Pinwheel Quilts is their versatility. Whether you love soft and classic or bold and modern, there’s a variation for you.

1. Classic Pinwheel Quilt – Timeless & Understated

For those who love a traditional, vintage aesthetic, these quilts feature:

  • Soft pastels or muted earth tones
  • A neutral background to let the pinwheels shine
  • A delicate border for a refined, heirloom look

2. Modern Pinwheel Quilt – Bold & Contemporary

If you prefer vibrant color and contrast, a modern Pinwheel Quilt might be just what you need:

  • Bright, high-contrast fabrics that pop
  • Dark or dramatic backgrounds for a striking effect
  • Fun, creative borders to give the quilt a unique personality

Why Invest in a Handmade Pinwheel Quilt?

A Pinwheel Quilt isn’t just a bedcover—it’s a handmade work of art. Here’s why investing in one is worth it:

  • Durability – Unlike mass-produced bedding, a handmade quilt will last for generations.
  • Uniqueness – No two quilts are exactly alike.
  • Comfort – Natural materials and expert craftsmanship make for an unmatched coziness.
  • Sustainability – Handmade quilts embrace slow, thoughtful craftsmanship—not factory production.

Tired of store-bought bedding that falls apart after a year? It’s time to invest in a handmade quilt that will stand the test of time.

Why Choose a Handmade Quilt Over a Store-Bought Blanket?

Not all bedding is created equal. When you invest in a handmade quilt, you’re getting:
Quality Materials – 100% cotton fabrics, natural batting, and a cotton backing.
Durability – Custom quilting ensures this keepsake quilt lasts for generations.
Uniqueness – No two made-to-order quilts are exactly alike!
Washable & Easy Care – Machine washable for everyday use.

Unlike mass-produced bedding, a handmade quilt is an heirloom that will last. If you’re tired of box-store blankets falling apart after a year, it’s time to invest in a custom quilt made with care.

Choosing a Quilting Pattern?/ Quilts For Sale/ Handmade Quilts/ Civil War Era Quilt

Quilt For Sale/ Quilts for Sale

Putting together Inspirations, For a “New to Me” Pattern

Inspired by my love for working with smaller pieces, Im choosing a quilt pattern.

I often explore amazing magazines and books for inspiration. And by New to me, I mean a new one to the site, so it can be a new one to YOU! LOL ~~~

Sooo… I’m on the hunt for a pattern from the War Era— style and color ~

something both fun and beautiful. Quilts from that time were often made up of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pieces. Classic patchwork from that era was remarkable; nothing went to waste.

Back then, everything was made from REAL natural fibers, adding to their charm and durability. Now days we struggle to find anything 100% Cotton.

Here are some of the Pattern and Ideas Im looking at>< Which Quilt do you like best? I always like them all ~~

for different reasons.

So Those are some of the Quilts I came across that seemed interesting. Plus depending on the color way they could all be very different. Too Many Quilts Not enough time! #Handmade Quilts. Find more of my work on My Pinterest

Color Chips Finished Quilt/ Quilt For Sale/ Quilts By Taylor

Quilt for sale/ Ready to Ship/ Finished Quilt

Color Chip Handmade Quilt, Is Finished and Ready to Ship!

This custom quilted Color Chips Quilt / Quilt for Sale/ Its going to shine in whatever room it goes in. I finished it months ago. I was sad that a couple small areas had a small color issue. Anytime you do bright colors with white you take that chance. It measures 80 X 96.

But Its too beautiful , and it hardly shows. I decide it would be a shame not to list it.

I have it slightly discounted from what I would have charged, as it really is hardly noticeable.

Quilt for Sale/ Finished/ Ready To Ship

  • Vibrant Color Chips Quilt – Handmade Quilt -Custom Quilted & Ready to Ship
  • This Color Chips Quilt is a stunning, finished piece, ready to ship and brighten up any room it graces. Its vibrant design and meticulous craftsmanship make it a unique treasure that’s built to last.
    • Size: Measures 80″ x 98″ – perfect for a cozy bedspread or a statement display.
    • Materials: Made with 100% cotton fabrics, double cotton batting for extra warmth and comfort, and a sage green backing that adds versatility.
    • Custom Quilting: Intricate custom quilting highlights the beautiful pattern, giving it a dynamic, textured finish. More on My Custom Quilting
    • Durable Construction: Machine-bound edges ensure lasting durability.
    Key Features:
    • This quilt has been pre-washed and dried, so it’s ready for immediate use with no additional shrinkage.
    • Double batted for exceptional softness and loft—this quilt is as cozy as it is beautiful.
    • The reverse side features a lovely sage green backing, offering a second stylish look.
Note: There are a few small areas with slight color fade around some seams, likely due to the thickness of the double batting. These spots are subtle and barely noticeable but have been clearly photographed for transparency. Due to this minor issue, the quilt is discounted by 15%.

The History of the Lemoyne Star Quilt

The Lemoyne Star pattern dates back to the early 1700s and is named after the French-Canadian Lemoyne brothers, Pierre and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, who were explorers and settlers in North America. By the 19th century, this intricate star design became a staple among pioneer quilting traditions, requiring advanced piecing techniques due to its diamond-shaped construction rather than simple squares or triangles.

The pattern gained widespread popularity in Pennsylvania Dutch, Appalachian, and Southern quilting communities, where it was used in heirloom quilts passed down through generations. Today, the Lemoyne Star remains a favorite for quilters who appreciate both historical tradition and modern artistry.
