Why I Love This Pattern So Much

I think what draws me to this pattern Double Charmed again and again is the sense of motion it creates. When you stand back and look at it, it almost feels like the stars and blocks are swirling or shifting across the quilt top. It’s unlike any other quilt I’ve made!

I’ve also had some really fun custom requests for this quilt. One customer asked for all shades of blue and white — it turned out so crisp and fresh. Another asked for the colors to look like a sunset — full of oranges, purples, and deep pinks. That one was absolutely stunning! I never get tired of seeing how each one turns out.

The Fun (and Challenge) of Making This Quilt

I have to say — this is one of those quilts that’s just fun to make. It’s not necessarily an easy one, but it’s always worth it in the end. The sharp star points and crisp block designs come from a lot of careful trimming and using specialty rulers that I have quite a collection of. My Tucker Trimmer, and V Block Trimmer are such great help in making this pattern. Honestly, there’s a bit of precision work involved, and it’s definitely a labor of love!

But oh, when it’s done — it’s spectacular. The way the contrasting colors pop and the pattern seems to almost shift and move across the quilt top is one of my favorite things about this design. I’ve made this quilt in bold jewel tones, soft pastels, and even moody dark blues — and every single one has been stunning in its own way.

March 30th Update/ Getting the rows Together

these are tricky little blocks. It can deceive your eye… LOL and because they start as 3.5 inch blocks, you spin 1 block out of order and the whole design disconnects…. But its amazing when it comes together.

Lining Up the Chains/ getting Rows Together

I actually have one very similar to this listed in my Finished Quilts Section, its super cute too. Its is more all light blues. Its quilted differently also, and is available here> Finished Double Charmed/

April 2 Update/ Ready for the Quilting

I have all the borders on, and the double stuffing, and the backing all loaded up, and ready to Quilt! This one has some great quilting on the original so I will be doing it just like that one. The beauty of this pattern is when you stand back a way, and see the secondary pattern. I just love it! Ok… Off to the Quilting, be back soon!

Double Charmed Custom Made Quilt

I’m excited to get started! I’m thinking about doing it in Pink. It was sorta fun, tricky to put together… but fun when its finished~ 🙂 the 3rd picture here is of the original 🙂

April 8th Update, Almost Finished with Quilting

Its coming along awesome! I have a few thread changes im doing, so it takes a little longer to re thread and re thread…. lol I could just use white/ gray all over, but I like matching the thread. And that dark Blue border looks cool with the thread not showing, and just having the texture. Super fun!

Just for fun I started a Pink one>< I just love pink its a very happy color~ and since i was warmed up to the pattern again, I decided to do another one while I am in the groove. This one will be up for sale soon, as I just made it to make it. 🙂
