A Long Overdue Handmade Quilts/ Update: New Finished Quilts, Made-to-Order Decor & What’s Coming Next

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I’ve posted, and a LOT has happened since my last update.

I’ve been quilting, working, creating new designs, and, unfortunately, dealing with something I never expected to experience so close to home.

So today I wanted to check in, tell you what has been happening, show you some of the new finished handmade quilts now available, and give you a little preview of what is coming next.

A Devastating Summer of Fire in the Inland Northwest

This summer brought something very different to our area.

We are used to wildfire in the Northwest. Fires are part of life here, and we understand the danger that comes with them. But what happened this time was not a typical wildfire situation. it was Arson/

Multiple fires were started around the area within a very short period of time, and our community was suddenly surrounded by fire and smoke. More than 700 homes were lost, and fires came frighteningly close to the city center.

I was incredibly fortunate that my home was spared.

For those of us who still have our homes, there is a strange mixture of relief and sadness. I feel very lucky, while at the same time my heart goes out to the people who lost everything.

The smoke and poor air quality lingered for weeks, and our community is still trying to pick up the pieces and figure out what comes next.

It has been a difficult summer.

And through all of it, I have been especially grateful for the simple things β€” being home, having my sewing room, and being able to sit down at my machine and make something beautiful.

Sometimes quilting is work.

Sometimes it is therapy.

And sometimes it is simply a wonderful reminder that there are still good things being made in the world.

New Finished Quilted Home Decor

While things have been a little chaotic around here, I have still managed to get several new pieces finished!

There are four new items in my Finished Quilted Home Decor collection, including some really fun half Lone Star quilts.

The Lone Star is one of those classic quilt patterns that never seems to get old. I am currently working on a larger Lone Star quilt for an order, and I am having an absolute blast watching it come together.

There is something about those diamonds and the way all of the colors come together that makes the finished pattern so striking.

And I apparently can’t stop making them!

A NEW Option: Made-to-Order Quilted Home Decor

I am especially excited about this new addition to the shop.

I’ve been asked many times:

“When are you going to make ______ pattern?”

And honestly, the answer has usually been, “I don’t know!”

I have two jobs and stay pretty busy, so even when I have a particular quilt pattern I would love to make, I don’t always have time to sit down and make every design that catches my eye.

That is why I have started offering Made-to-Order Quilted Home Decor.

I’ve started with two of my favorites: Double Charmed~~ and~~ Lone Star.

These are smaller versions of my larger quilt designs, made specifically for decorating your home. They are wonderful for the back of a couch, over a chair, on a table, or anywhere you want to add a handmade quilted accent.

And there is something important I want to clarify about these.

These are not scrap quilts.

They are not quilts made from leftover pieces sitting around my sewing room.

When you order one of these, I am making it from scratch for you.

You choose your colors, and I select and cut the fabrics specifically for your quilt. I piece the quilt, layer it with batting, quilt it, bind it, and finish it just like I do my larger handmade quilts.

The smaller size simply means that you can have a custom handmade quilt without committing to the size or price of a full bed quilt.

Most of these home decor quilts fall in the $200–$250 range, depending on the design and options.

So if you’ve ever looked at one of my larger quilts and thought, “I love that, but I don’t need a whole bed quilt,” this may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

New Double Charmed Quilts

And speaking of Double Charmed β€” these little quilts are just too much fun.

I now have several finished Double Charmed quilts available, and the design can also be ordered in the colors you choose.

The Double Charmed pattern creates a wonderful star-chain effect, and with my custom quilting and double batting, these little quilts have plenty of presence.

They are a great size for the back of a couch, over a chair, or as a beautiful accent piece in a bedroom or living room.

And yes, they can also make a wonderful baby quilt if you are looking for something truly handmade and special.

Because they are smaller, they are also a fun way to bring a more traditional quilt pattern into your home without needing a full-size bed quilt.

My New Lone Star Quilts

I’ve also been playing with a collection of tropical batik fabrics, and the colors have been absolutely delicious.

I have a couple of Little Dipper Lone Star quilts, a new Log Cabin design, and a beautiful Bronze Half Lone Star quilt runner.

These colors are rich and warm β€” golds, bronzes, deep tones and tropical batiks that work beautifully together.

They would be wonderful for fall, but honestly, I think some of them would look just as beautiful throughout the holidays and into winter.

This is one of my favorite things about working with batiks: the colors have so much depth that the quilts can change character depending on the room and the season.

This One is a beautiful mix of cool tones. Im pieceing it right now, and it will be coming out soon with the quilting. Super excited about this one πŸ™‚

New Atlantic Fly Away Quilt

I’m also excited to introduce a completely new quilt pattern to the shop: Atlantic Fly Away.

This is the first one I’ve made in this design, and I decided to make it as a 45 x 45-inch finished quilt. The design centers around a beautiful blue star, surrounded by flying geese that create a wonderful sense of movement around the quilt. I added floral prints, soft creams, and touches of gold, pink, green, and purple, then finished it with detailed custom quilting that really brings out all of those individual pieces.

This is one of those patterns that I don’t plan to make in a King size, but I think it is perfect as a larger quilted home decor piece. It would be beautiful displayed over a chair, folded across the back of a sofa, or used as a colorful accent anywhere in your home.

And the best part β€” this one is finished and ready to ship!

Coming Soon: A New Rainbow Storm at Sea

And now for the one I’m really excited about…

A new Rainbow Storm at Sea quilt is coming soon!

This one is going to be a little different from my original Storm at Sea design. I’m keeping the beautiful movement of the classic pattern, but I’m adding even more color and making a few changes to the original design.

If you know my quilts, you know I love color β€” and this one is going to have plenty of it!

The Storm at Sea pattern is especially fun because the geometric pieces create the illusion of sweeping curves and waves across the quilt. Add a rainbow of fabrics and it becomes a completely different quilt from the traditional versions of this pattern.

It’s still in progress, so I don’t want to give away too much yet…

But this one is going to be a stunner. Stay tuned!

Thank You for Still Being Here

It has been a strange and difficult summer, and I realized that it has been far too long since I simply stopped to say hello.

So β€” hello!

Thank you for continuing to follow along, read my posts, look at my quilts, and support my little quilting business.

There is always something happening in my sewing room, even when I don’t manage to get a blog post out on time.

I’m looking forward to getting back into a regular rhythm here, sharing new quilts, new designs, quilting projects, and some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a handmade quilt.

And I’ll be back soon with that Rainbow Storm at Sea.

Until then, happy quilting!

Taylor
