My old school patchwork quilt, in stars and Irish chain design is finished with the quilting. I had a lot of fun with this one. Its winter weighted, think and sturdy, with a heavy drape.
Stepping back into classic patchwork, and the beauty of some of the best quilts came from back in the day.

This one took some time, as its base units are only 2.5 inches! Back in the day they used every fabric they had, but it was lots of smaller pieces. This one I decided to do classic stars, with an Irish Chain running through it.
I will be getting to the quilting on it soon.

New Finished! Churn Dash Quilt in my favorite tones. Teal, Off White and Light blue greens.
I have only made this quilt once before. Then a bunch of time went by, and I wondered why didn’t I make it again>? Well, now I remember. The quilting on this little gem, is very time consuming. Its so beautiful when its finished. But at this size, it took me almost 2 weeks just for the quilting.
It has a great weight due to all the quilting, and will look fabulous in someone’s room.

This one is always fun as I do each segment/ Hexi slightly different. I’ve not done this pattern in Blues before~ but its sure to pop. 🙂 Blues are so popular.
I also have a new project, working with some really great old school fabrics and colors.
Im pretty excited about this new to me project. Im waiting for my fabrics to arrive, but have started
to do some scale and ratio ideas so Im ready when they get here. Super fun new one 🙂
Anyway that’s what I have going on this weekend, I how February stays on track to be warmer than Last month.
I seriously shoveled a foot of snow one week, then it went to below zero for a week, and ended the month up by raking the yard like it was spring in 50 degree temps! It was a wild January. But fruit trees are budding, and I here spring birds out there, Looking forward to it warming up!
Well Happy New Year! and welcome to the Ice Age! I know its a fair bet most everyone reading this is feeling January all the same. We had 5 days of single digit, and below zero. and then got about 10 inches of snow now. Lots of shoveling for me. now we are expecting freezing rain/ warm up so soon…. this will pass.
But you can tell I’m stuck indoors, ( well Im allowed out to shovel snow , but thats work!) But I do have 2 new quilts listed, and several on the way.
Some of what I have been dealing with is the supply chain of textiles is a mess. The inventory being held on my extra wide backing fabrics is either sold out, or on a pre order only basis. I’ve never seen anything like it. But my local store was able to order me some bolts, and now I can grab several bigger quilts I had ready.
1st up My scrappy 4 patch. It turned out great. all cotton, multi colored with off white. I used a very light tan backing on this one, and for the 2nd time I had some color fast to the back. It doesn’t show much at all on the front. But the back has a few faint areas. I was so sad. I’m sure as time goes it will fade out. And luckily it was mostly to the back. So I have it marked lower. Its a large queen/ small king
Third Quilt is ready to have border treatment, which I haven’t decide yet. For the quilting on it, I have always quilted each hexagon in a different way. I cant bring myself to just go all over with an edge to edge design. I cant resist custom quilting everything. Its why I love what I do. 🙂
It will be listed by February? maybe? haha. and ” soon” in quilting is different than most peoples ” soon” 🙂 The more snow…. the less quilting. So lets hope for more sunshine! I do need to put a border on it yet/ thinking dark solid blue. and the backing will be dark blue so if there are color fast issues it wont show. Pushing my luck with these light backings. ~ I also have a pic of it in the widow with sun behind it, would make awesome window treatments.
ALSO i made this Churn Dash Quilt earlier this Fall. I now have a backing for it. Im excited to get it quilted NEXT I used to have one listed, and now I cant find it. So I will work on listing for this green one, and for it to be Made to Order.
These pics aren’t any good I have had it folded away. Super excited to get started on it this weekend. I have a cute orange throw quilt I’m quilting now , should finished up this weekend. it a fun throw size one also.
Also almost finished now is this throw size Corner Pop Quilt. Always beautiful pattern, this is a new quilting motif I have for it. So it now has 3 or 4 options available on this one. This one is a combo of short wavy lines, with a few feather pops throughout. Its been fun to free form mode and just make waves 🙂
Also I found a use for my Cracker Box 4 Patches~~~ Turns out very much like the classic : postage Stamp” quilt with a slightly scaled up patches. I think a true postage stamp quilt ends up with 1 inch squares. these are almost inch patches. Theres a LOT… 🙂 and with this one the picture doesn’t do it justice. The photos make certain colors pop out, but in person its not like that. But as I get to the quilting it will be amazing. Im thinking of doing what I call ” drop in the pond” very circular, and echos. Im taking a risk mixing these dark mixed colors with off white…. but its so cool when they turn out. It sorta had a civil war era feel, which is more of a vintage look thats awesome too. Looking for ward to quilting it. I dont have a listing made up for this pattern yet, but once its finished I will have it offered in Made to Order also.

also done with Blues Gray and white, its going to be a stunner. This one I choose to do it with 100% polyester batting.
It is a smaller size, and will be great for a kids bed, so the poly quilted as close as this is perfect, Lots of puff, but very durable. Its going to be sharp too. Probably finished up in a couple weeks.
I also found a Corner Pop Quilt top in my Blue Stash. so I will be getting it up soon too.
Hard to believe I had 3 blue quilts stashed away, but summer was busy with yard and outdoors. Now Im stuck inside and the thread is roiling! Love it! I also have that Jelly bean quilt in the mix. But I need a differnt backing color for it, and want to make it bigger yet.
Well I finally emptied my cracker box of this Square in Square blocks.
( I call it cracker box because I just make 1 block. A small block. But I store them up in a up-cycled saltine cracker box)
When I fill the box, I put them together~~ this time I did Square in a square. The next one coming up is all 4 Patches. That one is going to be nice too. Done with multi colors and off white. But the box isn’t full yet. it will be soon 🙂 Its softer on the eyes being it will have white in it. This pink one is lively!
The quilting on this is called McTavishing. A style done by Karen McTavish. wavy and flowy fun! Its super dense, and has a super thick texture to it. Also has a Double layer of 100% cotton Batting, Nice and warm.
So that add to the keepsake and weight to it. I was bummed that there was 1 purple fabric that bled to the pink backing. I’m pretty sure having the double batting increased the chances of that happening. Im going to wash it one more time to see if I can get it out. But it is only on the back, and because I used a solid fabric for the back it does show.
I went ahead and priced it slightly lower than I would have for such a big quilt, to make up for it.
Also odds and ends project coming up Hunters Star quilt This one should be finished this week. It is square in size and a Large Lap sized. look for it to be listed soon.
I’ve also been working on a large multi colored confetti quilt. This one is fun because it has such a huge variety of fabrics in it. It will also get some great texture quilting on it, when I decide how I want to quilt it. I’m thinking of a design I call ” drops on a pond” which is a concentric circle type of design. I’m not sure yet but it should be up for quilting soon.

I also did a different variation on a Storm at sea Quilt I have done in the past for a family member. I just love how it turned out with the swirl quilting. It was also double batted, and super thick and warm. So its not for sale, as it was kept in the family. 🙂

This is such a fun pattern to do, Ive done it in other colors. But this time I decided to use some florals.
I love the sot on the eyes about small florals.
I wanted to quilt this one different than the last, so I could show completely different quilting designs for the pattern/ listing,
This one has fun little baskets I made with curved cross hatch, and paisleys super fun to quilt once I decided what to do~~~ sometimes the hardest part. Deciding what to do. LOL so it took me longer than some because I got it on the machine nd then just looked at it for a LONG time…. ha~~ being creative on demand isnt always so easy. 🙂
Anyhoo…. It turned out amazing and I’m happy to get it listed 🙂
It measures : 78 X 85/ so it covers a queen, but has very little drape. ( plz double check the measure)
So I’m super excited to list of these next 5 quilts. Not only to list them, but all 5 at once. 🙂

As we all know Christmas and Holiday come quickly. In a quilters world it is already here.
At this point these will be some of the last quilts I get done for the year, Based on My scrap management plan
I pushed on and got 5 finished. ( no this isn’t all of them, I could NEVER finish all of them) But I waited to get these 5 all listed at once.
Almost all of these are double batted, and 100% cotton. So all very durable. The abstract one I almost didnt want to part with, as it took SOOOO long to acquire enough ” scraps” to make this small quilt.
I hope everyone had a great summer! Ive been outside a lot, fixing things from last winter, just in time for another winter. Thats how it works here in the Inland NW. Im hoping we catch a break with an easy winter here this time.
Although, cooler weather keep me inside quilting. So either way I will be back soon!
This is a super cute pattern. I knew when I made it the first time, you could make several variations, by changing 1 color. And it might really look like a different quilt. The first time I made it I used more of a multi colored version, but having the blue as the main colors. This time I changed the background to gray, and made the chain blocks their own color in this case white. Such a huge difference. This version is very bold with the gray and white, where as the 1st time it had a completely softer look. Its always so fun to do a quilt more than once and see the changes you can make.
So I still have to work on a border idea, but it will be listed soon.

Patchwork window
After I got the center completed, I worked on the Migrating Geese Border. and built it to King size. Its now ready for the best part. The quilting. Im trying to decide on the thread colors. Its been fun putting this one together. 🙂
So this was a pattern I loved doing. I did it like the pattern suggested the 1st time, as far as colors. But I knew it would be beautiful done in a softer tone of colors.
So this week I decided to re live this one. with soft greay and Purples, and floral prints~
It just foes to show ya how different patterns can look based simply on color selections.
Couple peeks at 2 small throw quilts that are finished now, and will be listed today 🙂
Also One of my favorite projects came to life this week also. My Graffiti Crumb Quilt. These blocks I made over a period of several years. With bits and pieces I had along the way. Then they got put away for a while. I thought it needed a ” border. after more than a year… unfinished….. it was time to just do it. And I’m so glad I did, It is finally finished! And the saying is… a perfect quilt is a finished quilt. BOOM~~ one more Un Finished Object completed! ( UFO)
This week Im working on a really cute wall hanging. Log Cabin with Blues and batiks 🙂

What is a cracker box quilt? well…. as a on going forever project is to make 4 inch blocks from the scraps I make. Rather than put the scraps away I try to make a block. and when I got a big stack of blocks I needed something to store them in as I don’t always work on it. I looked around the hose, and found a saltine cracker box. The perfect 4 inch block fit…. haha. That is a cracker box quilt. 🙂 My plan is to make it several more rows bigger and wil be up for sale eventually 🙂
I also have one that will be up soon, This one has some great blocks, trip around the world in blocks. But then sashed with black and white. one of my favorite color combos together, Reminds me of stained glass colors.

What a winter we had! here in the NW it was bitter cold and lots of snow. and lots of ICE~
As luck would have it, I discovered I had some Ice Damage this winter that I just realized happened ~ 🙁
Im still not sure if I need a whole new roof, or if its not that bad. I’m in the process of finding out now. ( yikes!)
Not much quilting gets done if the roof doesn’t work… LOL BUT mine is from the ice, so I have no problems leaking yet…. Being a home owner can really be tricky when you can work on them yourselves. But I push on 🙂

Also Im working on another log cabin quilt, based off hand dyed blues with Batiks VERY different than the blues and creams from above… which is why I think its fun to see how different they can be based on the color ways you use.

Anyhoo… This digital Fabric panel is made by Robert Kauffman. It is the biggest size they made, and is now sold out. So I’m glad to have grabbed up 2. I made this one which has no borders and measures 97 X 98

I was so excited to have made this! Such a classic pattern and so many ways it could be done. I chose this setting called ” Barn Raising” but it has several ways you could lay it out.
I did some simple straight line quilting through the colors, and then did a free motion feather design around it. Its a beauty! The backing is also purple, and all 100% cotton.
I got this cutie all finished up, and ready for a new home 🙂
It washed up nice and ended up being a nice size queen/ full
it measures 80 X 90 and will have no additional shrinkage.
I still have 4 more scrappy quilts I was able to get this month. I have them almost all ready to get to the quilting and so I will be having several more this month coming out. 🙂
So Scrap Management month was great! I condensed a lot of things down, and now have room to store more!
Im not sure that was the plan~ but hey~ it was a plan of some sorts~ 🙂
I ended up piecing 4 or 5 smaller quilt tops I made out of my stash, and a few other things I can use for borders later.
some of them turned out good, and some GREAT. 1 of them was really ugly. I quit as soon as I realized I didn’t like it…. LOL ~~ so that one goes in pile of UFOs for some other day~. ( Un Finished Object) 🙂
I had lots of purples~~And I thought of the perfect thing for those strips was a Log Cabin Quilt,
Also with the scrap 1/5 inch strips I remembered The log cabin block is great for using all sorts of colors.
But I had a lot of purple~ so I added some white, and made this sharp pattern. Which I realized I dont have offered here on the site. Ive done many of them. The wavy ones are nice too. So many quilts, so little time! haha~
Im in the process of making a listing for it. I want to have a finished piece before it goes live. 🙂

So this is where I started with scrap buster month. After I had to manage my time shoveling 3 FOOT of snow, in 4 storms in 1 month~~ Im glad to have warmed up after 2 months in below freezing! We jumped into winter full force this year!
And so Im back to scrap busting with this quilt, Walk in the Park Quilt~ fun multi colored one here. It ended up measuring 84 X 82, so what I would consider a small queen. I didnt go about it for a particular size, it was based on what I had in my stash, super fun!
I used up SOME of my 2 inch strip stash with this fun pattern, Sewing them all end to end to create 1 long continuous piece. I bet it couls have went around my block twice.. LOL but as you fold and re sew, fold and re sew you come up with a fun mix of scrappy colors. The bonus with this little cutie is its double batted with layers of 100% cotton/ Its a dense and heavy. It ended up being 60 X 89. so again, not a standard bed size. For reference the surface of a queen is 60 X 80.
It has been washed and dried, so no additional shrinkage.
Every year around this time of year, once I realize I’m stuck indoors a lot due to winter, I look around at the scraps I have, all organized in totes according to different cuts. And wonder why I dont do more with them>?
Well the short answer is Im always busy on something. So for the 3rd year in a row I force myself to go through what I have and see what happens. Its become something I look forward to. I spend the month of January not allowing myself to “cut” anything new. ( with exceptions of orders)~ ” Use what I have cut”~ ” make more with what’s already to go”~
So this year I picked up on this cool little block, that uses 1.5 inch strips, which I really needed to use up somehow. ( 1.5 being the smallest scrap I keep)

Ive tried them in a few colorways just to see. Red White and Blue which is always fun.
And then I have settled in on a blue and green version which Im still working on.
But It is done in a Bargello style, and it has inspired me to do more with the Bargello.
So look for that coming up soon. Meanwhile Im going to make several more of these cuties, and maybe once I get 9 made I will put them together somehow. :)~~ somehow… Lets see what happens~
In the same manor I made these 2 color blocks. Very bold colors, and very scrappy. I have plans to add something black and white around it from this stage,
So thats the 1.5 inch scrappy round up. I have a month to go… to see what I can stir up 🙂
I have several…. Something about these are just super sweet.
They are puffy pockets, and make awesome couch covers, chair covers, pet beds, just anywhere you wand a puff of warm and cozy. I haven’t quilt got it all sewn in these pics, will put pics in my next post of the finished project.
I have made a super big one once… but had trouble with it being to heavy for a bed, and hard to wash if you make them too big.
But They are wonderful. I might think about making these on a made to order basis, but they wouldn’t be bed sizes I would offer. If your interested , you can comment on this post and I will get it directly.
